Hi, I’m Daniele, VP of Engineering at Airalo! Engineering drives Airalo’s eSIM platform. We build the product that lets millions of people connect instantly across the globe. The challenges are exciting: high-scale systems, carrier integrations, and products spanning both B2C and B2B.

About the Role
Airalo’s fully remote Engineering team is growing. In this role, you’ll tackle complex technical challenges across our product ecosystem, helping build, innovate, and scale the platform that keeps millions of travellers connected worldwide.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Core Systems team, a dedicated group building essential internal tools as part of our B2C department. In this role, you will help us scale, improve organizational transparency, provide career development, mentorship, and honest feedback for our engineers.
Using your varying technical backgrounds and interests, you will drive and provide general technical direction and oversight. You will keep teams efficient and executing on the right goals. We build teams that are inclusive, helpful, and have a strong sense of ownership for the things they build.
Responsibilities
- Lead technology excellence in the company in the related domain
- Extend and improve engineering best practices in the teams
- Maintain and improve a collaborative environment, commit to driving projects to completion creatively
- Motivate and instill a strong sense of ownership in your team
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of your team members
- Ensure that the team delivers high quality products and solutions by following best practices, e.g. testing, observability, etc.
- Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other
- Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members
- Work with your engineers and/or product managers to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short term and long term goals
- Own your team’s deliverables and ensure we continue to ship scalable, highly-available products
- Work closely with the recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds
Must-haves
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience in cloud-native environments, demonstrating the ability to contribute to planning, drive technical decisions, and perform high-quality code reviews
- Minimum 2 years of experience in leading a team and guiding them through their career development
- Experience in guiding teams through planning, prioritization, and execution of work
- Expertise in building and refactoring scalable customer-centric systems, shared SDKs, or internal enablement platforms
- Strong understanding of application security practices
- Good knowledge in AWS services (S3, Lambda, SQS, Security, Aurora, EKS)
- Experience with Docker
- Knowledge and experience with Unit Testing/Feature Testing/Mocking
- Good communication skills and fluency in English
Good to have
- Prior work experience in telecommunications and network infrastructure
- Knowledge of eSIM and GSMA related technologies and services
- Expertise in building internal tooling or integrations for cross-departmental engineering teams
- Expertise in building or distributing shared SDKs across all three client platforms: web, iOS, and Android
