Design Engineer

About the Role:

In this role, you won’t just design screens or wait for handoff. You’ll spot product experience gaps, design better solutions, and ship them directly to users.

We’re looking for someone who cares about craft, moves quickly, and knows how to turn good design into production-ready code.

What You’ll Do:

• Improve the UI/UX quality of Fireflies’ highest-traffic product surfaces.
• Design, build, and ship polished frontend improvements.
• Turn design system components and tokens into clean, accessible interfaces.
• Work with the Design team to raise the visual quality bar across the product.
• Use data, customer feedback, and product judgment to identify what needs improvement.
• Build reusable UI patterns that make the product more consistent.
• Make sure what ships feels thoughtful, polished, and true to the design intent.

What We’re Looking For:

• Design taste: You care about spacing, typography, color, hierarchy, and interaction details.
• Frontend skills: You can write clean, maintainable React/TypeScript code.
• Shipping mindset: You’ve built and launched real product experiences for real users.
• Ownership: You can identify problems, prioritize the right fixes, and execute independently.
• Systems thinking: You understand design systems, components, tokens, and scalable UI patterns.
• High craft: You care deeply about quality, take feedback well, and iterate quickly.
• Strong portfolio: You can show work where you designed and built the same product experience.
