Applications Support Manager
Job Description
The Application Support Manager is responsible for the management of technical resources who provide application support and configuration of Trean’s critical business software. This position oversees the Policy/Claims/Billing, Finance, and low-code application support teams.
Additionally, the Application Support Manager is accountable for optimizing customer outcomes, leveraging effective and efficient processes, providing timely response to user requests for operational or technology improvements, and to act as a user advocate to other internal/external IT teams. This position may be called on to provide a level of project management for single or multiple projects and/or perform a vendor management role with third party service providers. Please note: this role is eligible for a remote, hybrid, or in-office arrangement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Creates vision, strategy and planning for application support that furthers company objectives.
- Works with IT leadership to define project requirements for specific projects, monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing status updates, and recommending actions.
- Interacts with business management and end users by establishing partnership with key individuals throughout the organization.
- Coaches and mentors employees on performance and sets performance standards for team members.
- Enhances operating efficiencies and metrics, improves customer satisfaction, and improves operational performance.
- Manages the daily activities of the teams responsible for the operation, implementation, maintenance, and support of critical applications.
- Understands technology trends and vendor product roadmaps to determine how they best fit the demands/requests of customers and how delivered functionality can be best leveraged.
- Works with the Security team to ensure applications and integrations are compliant with information security policies.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies.
- Performs other activities, duties and assignments as needed or requested.
- 8+ years’ IT and technology management experience, including leading technical teams
- 5-8 years’ experience working with claims or policy management systems
- Possess strong servant leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to lead, train and develop a self-directed workforce, including effective delegation skills and ability to manage assigned responsibilities.
- Superior interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel. Ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding.
- Effectively and clearly communicate to the end-user community, tailoring the communication style/method to the specific need and be able to discuss technical solutions in a non-technical manner.
- Strong analytical/technical and problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Strong sense of personal accountability and a proven track record of achieving desired results.
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
- Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized with strong time management skills.
- Build consensus, identify group conflict, facilitate resolution, and successfully perform in a collaborative environment.
- Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices.
- Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
- Working knowledge of insurance systems (policy & claim) preferred
- Insurance industry knowledge is a major plus, especially workers' compensation & P&C
This position, if in-office or hybrid, is located in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires the physical demands of a normal office position with some light lifting. This is a full-time position with benefits. This position may require longer hours and weekend work when necessary. Some travel may be required.
